Cricut Friday: Love Card #2

It makes the world go round.

It makes the world go round.

I used this card as my inspiration for the above card.  You need the following tools and supplies to create this card:

  • Cricut machine
  • Cricut Base Camp cartridge
  • Cuttlebug machine
  • embossing folder
  • cardstock
  • adhesive
  • foam dots
  • heart gem
  • baker’s twine

Fold the white cardstock so it is a finished size of 4.25″x 5.5″ and cut the white cardstock to 5.25″x 4″. Cut the love at 1″.  Run the white cardstock through the Cuttlebug machine to emboss.  Adhere love and heart gem to the embossed cardstock.  Wrap the twine around the embossed cardstock then adhere to the card base using foam dots.

I love the graphic imagery of this card using the classic combination of red, black and white.  It is a very simple card, but the message comes across loud and clear.

The addition of the glittered cherry and metallic frosting adds the glitz factor needed to make this one trendy cupcake.  My co-worker was the recipient of this birthday card and she loved it.

Crafty Today: Valentine Curly Paper Wreath

Love it!

Love it!

I love Valentine’s Day because of the imagery, colors and what it represents, but not the commercialization of it.  Since the inception of this blog, I have created a few projects to decorate my home: punched heart garlands, LOVE garland and ornament-filled cloche.  I finally have a decoration to adorn my front porch and it is this curly paper wreath.  I love this project!  You need the following tools and supplies to create it:

  • 6-7 sheets of patterned paper
  • foam wreath
  • small stick pins
  • bone folder

Cut the paper into 1/2″ strips.  Curl all of the strips using the bone folder like curling ribbon with a pair of scissors. Attach the curly strips to the wreath with pins.

I pinned this tutorial video to my Pinterest board and it really is that simple.  A great way to use your favorite paper that you want to see every day instead of buried in a scrapbook.  It is a project that anyone can do and the supplies are readily available.  I am already planning more wreaths for the future.  Stay tuned!

Cricut Friday: Birthday Card #33

Wish big!

Wish big!

This card on my Pinterest board provided the inspiration for the above card.  You need the following tools and supplies to create this card:

  • Cricut Machine
  • Creative Memories/Cricut Tiny Treasures cartridge
  • Cuttlebug machine
  • embossing folder
  • ribbon
  • cardstock
  • adhesive

Fold the orange cardstock so it is a finished size of 4.25″x 5.5″, cut the gold cardstock to 5.25″x 4″ and cut the white cardstock to 5″ x 3.75. Cut the candles at 5.5″.  Run the white cardstock through the Cuttlebug machine to emboss.  Tie the ribbon around the candles and adhere the candle bunch to the embossed cardstock.

I have used this candle imagery before and love the pattern variation.  This cartridge is no longer available, which is a crying shame.  It is by far one of my most used and favorite cartridges.  Cricut, please relaunch Tiny Treasures.  Pretty please!

Cricut Friday: Birthday Card #29

Happy Colorful Birthday!

Happy Colorful Birthday!

I used this card from my Just Cards board on Pinterest for inspiration.  You need the following tools and supplies to create this card:

Fold the white cardstock so it is a finished size of 4″x 8″.  Cut birthday from the Create a Critter 2 cartridge at 1.25″ and happy from the Tiny Treasures cartridge at 1″.  Punch out 5 circles.  Adhere the letters to the circles.  Cut lengths of ribbon and adhere to the card.  Adhere happy circles with foam dots and birthday to the card.

The ribbon was purchased from Michaels and it is part of their store product line.  This means you can make this card in other color ways since the polka dot ribbon is available in multiple colors.  Fortunately, my husband loves color so I knew he would enjoy this card.  And, he did!

Cricut Friday: Birthday Card #28

Happy Birth Day!

Happy Birth Day!

Another birthday card to share with you and I was inspired by this card on my Pinterest board.  You need the following tools and supplies to create this card:

Fold the gold cardstock so it is a finished size of 4.25″x 5.5″. Cut the balloons at 5.5″. Cut HAPPY DAY from the white cardstock using the Quickutz alphabet die.  Tie the twine around each balloon and adhere them in layers using adhesive for the bottom layer and foam dots for the top layer.  Tie the twine together with a bow and adhere to the card.  Adhere the letters to the cardstock.

It is fun to blend die-cutting formats and therein lies the creative challenge.  This card is a great way to use those patterned paper scraps you have lying around.  And, this card lends itself to many color variations too.
