Pastrami Perfection

Delectable and delicious!

Delectable and delicious!

Yesterday was National Pastrami Day and we celebrated by visiting our local burger joint, Hi-Life Burgers in South Pasadena.  Guy Fieri gave a shout out about to Hi-Life back in March 2015 and called it the bomb pastrami.  Succulent and tangy with a hint of spicy heat, it was delicious.  Guy confirmed what we already knew that this pastrami sandwich is pastrami perfection.

What is Crafted Living?

Time to create!

Time to create!

I started this blog over two years ago after I was laid off (reduced hours) at my then job as a project coordinator for a private design college. It was a great job where I was able utilize my organizational and relationship skills in a design field. Perfect. But, as in the past when I have been laid off, I switch industries and forge a new career path. I have been at my current job in the travel industry for over two years and struggle sometimes to keep my life crafted.  I might not cook as much as I want, but do my best to eat healthy and splurge periodically. I might not be able to scrapbook or make cards as often as I like, but I go to crops monthly, have my girlfriends over for workshops as often as I can and I make birthday cards for family and friends.  I might not be able to share as many photographs with you as I would like, but hope you enjoy what I do share.  In other words, I share what interests me and you get a glimpse into my creative life.  Eating well, seeing beauty in the garden, and creating a fabulous card are all a part of me.  This blog has been the forum where I can share my creativity and I thank you for the opportunity.  Let’s stay connected and enjoy the ride!

Enjoying Summer

Magnificent dinner plate dahlia

Magnificent dinner plate dahlia

You are probably wondering why I haven’t posted as much lately.  I have been enjoying the last few weeks of summer by making fruit salad dressed with Strawberry Vinegar, making lots of Pineappleade, picking and delivering dahlias to work, making pesto and hummus, scrapbooking with my friends, pinning on Pinterest and watching UCLA Bruin football.  I enjoy the small things in life and these things bring me much joy.

Flower Delivery

Simply beautiful!

Simply beautiful!

For those that have been following my blog for some time, you know that my mother is obsessed with dahlias.  They are in full bloom and my mother lovingly refers to her crop as the dahlia forest.  With too many blooms to keep to herself, she has given me permission to cut, cut, and cut some more.  This is the batch I brought to the office to share with my co-workers.  They were so grateful and thankful.  Such a joyful feeling to share with others something as beautiful as these.  Thanks Mom!

Photography Monday: Micro Library #2

What a charming micro library!

What a charming micro library!

Life happens and I had to take an unexpected break from the blog since Thanksgiving.  I am back now to share with you the discovery of another micro library in my town.  Coincidentally, it is located across the street from my parent’s home.  As I mentioned before in my first post about micro libraries, they follow the philosophy of “take a book, return a book”.  Each micro library is unique in its design and scale.  This library is a beautiful addition to this garden and quite charming.  I love it and hope more appear in town soon!

Beautiful wildflowers!

Beautiful wildflowers!

Wow!  Have I created 200 posts and have been blogging for a year?  Yes, and I am amazed!  What started out as a creative outlet for myself has turned into a creative journey that I share with you.  It is a way for me to be present, be observant and be creative.  The projects I post are dual purpose in that I am sharing it with you and in turn creating something for a friend or family member or sometimes myself.  Photography is a part of my life and I enjoy sharing what I find interesting and beautiful in this world.  It is important to me that I share the information that is attached to these photos because the words bring it to life.  I appreciate the time you spend with me to read my words, enjoy my photos and view my creations.  Let’s continue on this journey and see where it takes us!

Micro Library

Complete with sitting room!

Complete with sitting room!

I had read an article in the newspaper recently about micro libraries.  I was thrilled when I stumbled upon this one in my neighborhood and come to find out that my town supports two of these micro libraries.  What is a micro library?  It’s a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories.  The mission of the Little Free Library is to promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide and to build a sense of community as we share skills, creativity and wisdom across the ages.  I am fortunate to live in a town that supports the library, which is open 7 days a week.  Being an avid reader, I visit the library often and love the idea of sharing books on a smaller scale.  The Little Free Library has gained momentum and I hope it continues its mission for years to come.  For more information, please visit this site.

Tour de France

Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Tour de France!

Celebrating 100 years of the Tour de France!

It is July, which means it is Tour de France season.  Since Saturday, we have watched every stage.  We are avid fans and we have been following the Tour since the late 1980’s.  We love the drama, skill, and strategy.  The Tour de France is like no other sporting event in the world.  The scenery is stunning, the commentators are spectacular and lively, and fans camp out for days to see a glimpse of the riders as they pass by.  Absolute craziness and we love it!  Vive Le Tour!
